Funding round:
2017 Round 2

We are Autus, a registered charity, providing skills development and confidence-building programmes for young people with autism and similar conditions.

Your support for our Prism project will help 30 people with autism towards self-employment through confidence-building and enterprise skills development. Our project aims to tackle the social isolation and high unemployment rates faced by young people on the autistic spectrum; enabling them to see self-employment as an alternative to traditional employment settings which are unsuitable for some. The project will also provide a supportive environment for participants to look at their specialist interests as a means of generating income or making a contribution.

Thanks to this funding, we can work with 24 people in small groups to provide personalised support. The funding will cover the cost of specialist training and support staff for our programme, which includes teaching and accreditation of enterprise skills; confidence-building sessions; a mentor scheme and an enterprise challenge sponsored by employers.
