We are AIM Education, a small charitable organisation based in West Leeds. Our aims are to: give young people opportunities to access education; improve employability in the local community; improve access to sport, health and wellbeing activities; enable ex-service personnel to reintegrate into civilian life through work experience and training, and to offer development opportunities for ex-offenders.
Gaining your funding means we can run our Enterprise Academy, an out of school programme supporting groups to design, deliver and review the success of their own enterprise.
The programme will focus on 16 young people from challenging backgrounds, who struggle in mainstream school, live in areas of high deprivation and have low aspirations for their future. We’ll give them the opportunity to: design and deliver an enterprise that will have a positive impact on their community; gain experience working within a team, planning, reviewing and growing an idea; and improve academic engagement and attainment especially in maths, English and ICT.
Each participant will receive training, guidance and support from experienced staff and local business professionals to design and deliver four community focussed enterprises. Managed by a team of four young people, each enterprise will be designed to impact the wider community while making a profit and allow each individual to develop a variety of skills supporting them into their future education and employment.
